Small Cap Core
This strategy seeks to identify companies in the Russell 2000 Index with a market capitalization generally under $4 billion. We seek to exploit situations where the market has overreacted to short term events. With approximately 80 holdings, this is a portfolio for the investor desiring broad small cap exposure.
Concentrated Small Company
This unique strategy is a small-cap/micro-cap special situation strategy seeking absolute returns. Suitable investment candidates are often undiscovered or overlooked companies, or companies that have recently had severe price corrections. This is a concentrated portfolio of approximately 20 stocks.
Small Company Stock
This strategy invests in small companies with market capitalizations under $4 billion that trade at a discount to their actual economic value. The investment team pays particular attention to companies that are in transitional situations, cyclical performers, or are smaller emerging companies.
This strategy is an extension of the philosophy and approach present in the Small Cap Core strategy. We look for companies within the Russell Micro-Cap Index® that have undervalued assets or where the market has overreacted to short term events. These companies are rarely covered by Wall Street firms.
Large Cap Growth
This strategy uses a flexible investment approach with an objective to preserve capital and earn long term capital appreciation. Managed by Ravi Jain, Ph.D., CFA, the strategy invests primarily in equity securities of U.S. and non-U.S. companies that are traded on U.S. stock exchanges with a special focus on spinoffs.
Value Investment Partners®
The objective of the Value Investment Partners (VIP) Small Cap Value and VIP Small-Mid Cap Value strategies have been the same since 1986—to purchase shares of small cap companies with good, long-term prospects and a demonstrated history of management integrity that trade at a wide discount to intrinsic value. Fundamental research and absolute, rather than relative, valuations drive the stock selection process. Concentrated portfolios of 30-40 names are diversified relative to macroeconomic variables and individual security allocation limits, not benchmark weightings. We seek to attain the highest level of absolute return with the lowest level of risk over a full economic cycle.

The Ironwood Tree
Ironwood is a name given to a family of small hardy trees, which yield very useful and solid wood. Ironwood trees are widely dispersed and often grow in unforgiving environments. It is known as a habitat modifying species, in that it alters the local ecology and helps nurture the growth of other plants and animals. It is valued by industry as well as nature, and provides important diversity to the environment.
Ironwood Investment Management, LLC® was founded in 1997. Since that time, hundreds of investment managers have come and gone – but Ironwood persists. Like the Ironwood tree, we strive for growth, strength and utility. Through our investment activities, we hope to make the world a better place for our clients, society at large and our environment.
